X/Y is a sculpture piece suggestive of the two axes on a graph, which in this case distinguish the brain at the point 0/0, otherwise known mathematically as ‘the origin.’ The brain is fixed above the controposto ‘fossilized’ stance of an early hominid figure. X/Y is a natural history based expression of the evolution of behavior and the brain as a living fossil. This work is presented with pre-historical and historical artifacts of the human species.
