FLOP is a three-dimensional sculpture design for a classically proportioned arch. The transformation of the form is the rise, arch transition and fall of a male figure. The asymmetry of the form is due to the figure’s arm swinging out as it transitions over the arch, as if from centrifugal force and the loss of control. The proportions are fixed with respect to the ‘golden ratio’ yet the dimensions and materials are variable.
